Major Moving Mistakes

Moving day is around the corner!!!

You’re about to close on your dream home and it’s time to start packing for your move.

BUT WAIT! Before you start boxing things up, let’s go over some major moving mistakes I see from clients, so you can avoid them yourself!

Measure twice, move once: Before moving any furniture, take accurate measurements of both your current and new space. This step ensures that your furniture will fit through doorways, hallways, and into designated rooms without any issues.

Label boxes accurately: When packing up your belongings, don't underestimate the power of clear and detailed labeling. Instead of simply writing "kitchen" on a box, be specific about its contents, like "pots and pans" or "utensils." This way, when you arrive at your new home, you'll know exactly where to find essential items without having to unpack every box.

Pack a bag of essentials: Moving day can be chaotic, and the last thing you want is to be rummaging through boxes searching for essentials like toiletries, a change of clothes, or important documents. Pack a separate bag or box with these items, including medications, phone chargers, snacks, and important paperwork.

Hire professional movers: While it may be tempting to handle your move entirely on your own, hiring professional movers can be a game-changer. They have the expertise, equipment, and manpower to handle heavy lifting and navigate tricky spaces safely and efficiently. Professional movers can also offer additional services like packing assistance, furniture disassembly/reassembly, and even storage solutions if needed, taking much of the stress out of your move.
